Hmm Foods are interesting topics isn’t it? Let me tell you some of my favourite foods and my favourite restaurants.
One of my all-time favourite is chocolates because of its taste. I am really the kind that likes white chocolates but I also like normal chocolates and dark chocolates. I have been addicted to chocolates because when I was still a kid my father, working abroad, always sends us chocolates. “The chocolate that melts in your mouth not in your hand” this is the tagline of M&M’s. I also have a lamp shade that has a design of M&M’s, and a chocolate dispenser. Today I have many favourites when it comes to chocolates like Toblerone, Cadbury, M&M’s, and Hershey’s and many more. I also like jellybeans. When it comes to dishes, Shrimp Sinigang is my most favourite. I also like sisig and baked macaroni. When it comes to chocolates, I like all chocolates except the dark chocolate of Cadbury because it is so bitter.
When it comes to restaurants, Shakey’s and Max’s is my favourite because if there is an occasion or none, we sometimes go to Shakey’s or Max’s to eat. That’s all I have to say when it comes to my favourite restaurants.

A Talk on Human Sexuality

Ok, I will start this by defining some terms first:
Premarital Sex- this is when couples engage in an intercourse occurring or existing before marriage.
Rape- forcing of somebody into sex.
Sexual Harassment- unwanted sex-related behaviour toward somebody.
Abortion- it is the operation to end pregnancy.
Murder- crime of killing somebody.
This are the only terms I know related to “The Adolescent Life: Challenges and Solutions”
Honestly, I did not attend the talk held last Sept. 18, 2010 in our school but I still want to talk about the theme of this talk and give some insights about this. To start with this, talks are great especially if we can learn something from this and will benefit us. This talk is all about the causes why teenagers and adults engage in premarital sex (I referred this on the pamphlet given to me by my classmate). The pamphlet mentioned some reasons or causes of teenagers why they engage in premarital sex like:
->The need for Intimacy
- Since some of the teenagers are being rejected by their parents or sometimes their family, they usually strive to experience this from others like their friends, boyfriends or girlfriends.
->The need for Belongingness
- Some of the teenagers want to feel that they are accepted and understood by others.
->Curiosity
- This is one reason why teenagers experiment and experience anything for pleasure.
->Rebellion
- Broken families and sometimes if the parents of the teen is always fighting with each other, there is a tendency for the teen to rebel to his or her parents.
->A way to cope with stress
- Stressed teens can easily be irresponsible that lead to wrong decisions and irresponsible behaviours with bad consequences.
Another thing that the pamphlet says is the excuses adolescent use to engage in premarital sex like:
-s/he is afraid to lose the relationship
-imagines “everyone” is doing it.
- wants to prove that he is a real man or that she is a real woman.
- thinks that s/he “owes” it to the person.
- feels guilty for making the other person sexually excited.
- feels pressured or intimidated.
- is curious.
- does not want to be old-fashioned or “square”.
- thinks that it is the next step in the relationship.
- seeks to have affection and warmth.
- wants to “prove” love.
- thinks s/he will find security.
- cannot “help himself/ herself”.
I think that some of these are true because it is the reason given by a boy or a girl to his boyfriend or girlfriend and then when one approved to do it they will make love all night. I disagree on one thing, that sex is one of the things needed to prove your love to someone; it is not only by sex that you can express your love to someone but also in many ways. Having sex does not mean that you love a person but it can also mean that the person is just using you for their own selfish reasons. If we truly love someone we can wait until we got married before we engage in this intercourse.
Another good thing this talk is that it gives teenagers like us to have a good knowledge on the do’s and don’ts of having premarital sex and if we will also engage in it we might have some various diseases like HIV, AIDS, and cancer on our reproductive organs.
Saying no to premarital sex will have many good effects on us like we will not have unwanted or unexpected pregnancies, Reproductive Tract Infections, HIV, AIDS and many more. This will also help us in fulfilling our dreams in life.
Saying yes to this will make our lives miserable and will put a shame on us. So if we are asked to have a sex, we must think carefully and know the consequences of our decision.

A talk by Rob Dunbar in Discovering ancient climates in oceans and ice

http://www.ted.com/talks/rob_dunbar.html

This talk of Rob Dunbar is all about the climate change that is happening to our world. In this talk he mentioned some of the causes and possible effects of global warming to our world but before he started he asked “Is CO2 the cause of the warming”? Then he answered that it is the effect of the CO2 that causes the warming of the planet. He showed the “Natural” Causes of climate change that affects us are the Air-Sea Interactions, Volcanic Aerosols and Dust, Ocean Circulation and Solar Output. He also showed the Human-induced causes like land use change, aerosols, and trace gasses (CO2, CH4, O3, SO2, NOx). He had also gone to Antarctic to recover sediment that tells stories about climate change. He also mentioned that they had encountered waves up to 50 feet and during December 2007 they had made the world’s largest ice shelf and they drilled in the Ross Sea. They had drilled 900m of seawater and 1300m sediment and rock and it is the deepest borehole drilled. They had found out glacial sediments that are 12cm wide. All or large parts of the Ross ice Shelf melted and then formed anew ~35 times in the last 4 million years. It melted and formed again.
The effects of the climate change on organisms are Physiological sensitivities, Acidosis, reduced metabolism, Reduced Oxygen uptake, reduced reproductive success. Talking about the climate change there are many effects of this not just the ones stated earlier. If we would know all the causes and effects of this, maybe we will know what will we do and things that we must avoid. One of the major causes of climate change is the burning of plastics and many are still unaware that this is one of the causes of climate change. Another is the depletion of trees in mountains that causes landslides.

When we talk about climate change and global warming we always say that one way to prevent this is by planting trees, but do we do this? It is easy to say that we must plant trees but why can’t we do it? It is also important to learn many alternatives in lessening the effects of climate change. Another effect of climate change is that the sea level will rise and is happening now and it will seriously affect the low-lying islands and coasts within 20 to 30 years. According to the talk, in the year 2100, we may see 1 to 2 meters rise and under some scenarios it could be more meaning that these 1 to 2 meters can still rise up to greater than 2 meters. Rob Dunbar also mentioned the uplift of seas during the past years. An example of this is the Urvina Bay- 8 square kilometres of shallow marine coral terrace was lifted up out of the water by an earthquake in 1954. He also mentioned that if you will go near it you will see and 11 meter diamond coral head and have an estimated age of 400 years old.

There are so many effects of global warming and climate change. If we will not start doing something today, we might regret it someday. If we want to preserve our Mother Nature and mother earth, we must do something in order to save her. We must know our duties and responsibilities to take care of our environment.

P-Noy's 10-point Basic Education Agenda

Let me start this by stating the 10-point agenda of P-Noy:

1. 12-year Basic Education Cycle
I will expand the basic education cycle, from a 10-year cycle to a globally-comparable 12 years, for our public school children. At present, those who can afford basic education get into the best universities and the best jobs after graduation.

2. Universal preschooling for all
All public school children will have preschool as their introduction to formal schooling by 2016, and we will make this available to all children regardless of income.

3. Madaris education as a sub-system within the education system
I want a full basic education for all Muslim Filipino children. This is to give proper respect to their culture while providing a sound curriculum in English, Filipino, science, and math. Madaris education, with subjects in Arabic language and Islamic values education, can be integrated in our public school curriculum as additional subjects.

4. Technical vocational education as an alternative stream in senior high school.
I will reintroduce technical-vocational education in our public high schools to better link schooling to local industry needs and employment. We need to provide an educational alternative to better prepare the students for the world of work.

5. “Every child a reader” by Grade 1
By the end of the next administration, every child must be a reader by Grade 1.

At the core of our children’s non-learning problems is the inability to read properly. By the end of the next administration (SY 2015-16), every child passing pre-school must be a reader by Grade 1.

6. Science and Math proficiency
I will rebuild the science and math infrastructure in schools so that we can produce more scientists, engineers, technicians, technologists and teachers in our universities so that this country can be more globally competitive in industry and manufacturing. To build a culture for science and math, I will promote science and math clubs and fairs.

7. Assistance to private schools as essential partners in basic education
I will expand government assistance to private education. A strong private school system will strengthen our public schools by providing parents an alternative and not adding to the overcrowding.

8. Medium of instruction rationalized
We should become trilingual nation: Learn English well and connect to the world. Learn Filipino well and connect to our country. Retain your dialect and connect with your heritage.

9. Quality textbooks
I will not tolerate poor textbook quality in our schools. Textbooks will be judged by three criteria: quality, better quality, and more quality. Poor quality textbooks have no place in our schools.

10. Covenant with the local governments to build more schools
I will build more schools in areas where there are no public or private schools in partnership with local governments, as well address our persistent classroom and teacher shortages. We need more schools with smaller populations so that teachers, students and parents can form a real learning community.

http://eduphil.org/forum/noynoy-aquinos-10-point-basic-education-agenda-t-2006.html

I agree on some of his agenda because it shows that it would benefit the youth and can improve the literacy skill of the teachers and the students. I think that his agenda will help in the rising of our country's education despite having many people not able to study due to some financial problems and their status in life. I quite disagree on his 12-year basic education because for me, as a student it will cause more burdens to us. I am thinking that, if we will have a fifth year in high school, what would be the topics of the subjects? Will it be the introduction to college? If so, then I think that it has a good effect, we are being prepared to be in college, a new way of life.

Another good effect of this project is that it will help in decreasing the number of unemployed professional teachers and they need not to go to other countries just to have a work and a good salary. Another thing is that it will also decrease the number of people that do not know how to read and write. I also agree on the rebuilding of math and science buildings to help us produce more scientists, engineers, technicians, etc. and so that our country can be more globally competitive in industry and manufacturing.

On my point of view, will this agenda work? Could it really benefit in the literacy skills of our fellow Filipinos? Does the government have enough budget for this? If this will work then it could be the start of a BETTER PHILIPPINES.

Introduction

Okay let me start this post by introducing myself.

I am Errol Asuncion, I live at Baguio City. I enjoy doing a lot of things. i enjoy being with my friends and my family. You can easily get along with me. When I have nothing to do, sometimes I play video games, airsoft, sleeping, photoshop and eating. Even though I eat a lot I do not get fat. I am currently studying in one of the private schools here in our city. My friends' names are Aaron Go, Aidan Madarang, Marc Tuazon, And Jeremy Rimando. if our dismissal is early, we sometimes go to Aaron's house to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. In the near future, I plan to take the course I.T. because I am fond of using the computer and troubleshooting.

This blog website is about what is happening in my life and I am really not a typical blogger and I am also not a good writer and I can't easily express what I feel through words, sometimes by action. To try something new I chose to try blogging and I found blogging cool nice and fun. I did not know that blogging could this be fun and cool because I did not try it before.
